Rock the Trend: Long-sleeve Dresses

So you are about to step out for the evening and don’t know which dress to wear?  A great choice this season is a long sleeve number with minimal detail.  You may think that this look is frumpy and outdated, but red-carpet regulars today are reviving this trend in a very modern way.  Check out our tips to rock this trend yourself and you will look nothing like your grandmother. 

Wear sheer sleeves.  This modern addition will make your look more youthful and sexy while still being reminiscent of the past with the long sleeves.  Decorative cuff bracelets and a bold cocktail ring will catch the eye of the observer and make your frock look more modern.  A sequined -stiletto closed-toe heel is super sexy, mildly conservative, and very ladylike; all three of which are elements that go well with the theme of the outfit.   

Wear hemlines short.  No matter how you slice it, short lengths are definitely modern.  The short hemline will be a nice contrast to the modest nature of the style of dress.  The key is to keep the dress short without being vulgar; slightly above knee-length is the best bet.  However, if you are very daring, go for a mid-thigh length style, but make sure your dress either has a jacket (such as a bolero jacket) or solid sleeves to keep a somewhat conservative aire about the ensemble. 

Wear it in white.  Another great suggestion is to wear your long-sleeved dress in white.  This is a bold and very much unexpected turn for the more modest styled dress.  However, to keep the look fresh and not sterile, pair your look with bold colored accessories.  A lipstick red skinny belt and matching lipstick red pair of stiletto sandals would be my pick.  Accessories and heels in either black or royal blue would also work well with a white long-sleeved dress.
