Thong Family Tree-There's a Style for Everyone

What comes to your mind when you think of the word, "thong"?

I am sure many of you have a lot of the same thoughts.  Usually, a hot girl on the beach with the classic butt floss or the picture of the stripper teasing her costumers.  While these thoughts are running wild in your mind they are probably of the same type of thong when in reality there are actually a number of different styles that can be referred to as thongs.

Each style has distinct characteristics, qualities and purposes.  Not only are there different types but they each cater to a number of stylistic preferences. Maybe you are not confident enough in your body to wear that g-string in public, but possibly you might have the confidence to wear a variation called the tanga.

1. G-string:

This is, by far, the most famous and scandalous type of thong. Often times referred to as 'butt floss', a g-string consists of a small front triangle patch, with strings that go around your hips and under your behind.

2. Tanga:

The Tanga covers a huge area of the female anatomy, just kidding.  In contrast to the G-string, it does cover a significantly larger surface area mainly because the front is completely covered while the back side is higher cut, usually curving up a few inches above the butt.

3. Thong:

The Father so to speak in the Family of Thongs that is actually called a thong.  This particular piece has a little more material than the G-string in the front and back.  Usually 1/2inch to 1inch of material on the back side to cover a little more surface area.

4. V-string:

This part of the thong family is known for the V shape that it makes going up the back side. You probably have seen this style on women at the beach wearing one piece swimsuits, and offers slightly more coverage than a g-string.

5. T Back:

Want more coverage in the front of your body?  Then this thong is for you.  It consists of a wider waistband going around the back forming a T shape from the junction of the back material of the thong.

6. Rio:

Can't decide what type of thong to wear?  Not really sure about exposing a lot of skin with a G-string.  You might want to start with the Rio.  This style is known as the ‘starter thong'. It resembles high cut bikini briefs more than anything else, and makes a nice transitional garment.
